Miljana Pakic is a makeup artist with over 20 years of experience in the film industry. Born and raised in Paris, Miljana returned to her city of birth after living in Serbia for many years. Alongside her twin sister, a photographer, she works on various professional as well as their own artistic projects.
After expending her career in the film industry, Miljana discovered her love for beauty makeup artistry while freelancing for Studio Tito, a company that promotes creativity and offers services to art-related projects.
Miljana has collaborated with international film crews and companies from the United States, France, England, Italy, Turkey, and Serbia, working on film productions as a makeup artist, additional and assistant makeup artist, makeup department coordinator, and makeup designer. Through her work, she has had the opportunity to work with and learn from awarded makeup designers such as Loz Schiavo, Daniel Parker, Kirstin Chalmers, Tina Subic, and Lizzi Lawson Zeiss.
From a very early age, Miljana found solace and excitement in crafting her own stories through writing. Giving life to characters and adventures only existed within the realm of her mind. As Miljana journeyed through life, her passion for storytelling took an unexpected turn. She discovered the power of visual narratives, the ability to convey emotions and messages through the art of makeup.
It all began when her twin sister embarked on a photography project and needed a makeup artist to bring her vision to life. Miljana eagerly stepped in, embracing this new avenue of creativity with open arms. Unlike writing, which often required solitude and introspection, makeup artistry introduced Miljana to a whole new world of collaboration and teamwork.
She discovered the thrill of working alongside photographers, models, and other fellow artists, merging their talents to create something truly extraordinary. It was a creative process that she found both invigorating and adventurous. As time went on, Miljana’s love for storytelling and her newfound passion for makeup artistry became intertwined.
She pursued her studies in screenwriting and theater writing, expanding her understanding of narrative structure and character development. It was during this time that she found herself drawn to the mesmerizing world of cinema. With her keen eye for detail and understanding of storytelling, Miljana entered the realm of film as a makeup artist.
For two decades, she collaborated with talented film crews, bringing characters to life with her transformative brush strokes and intricate designs. Her work became an integral part of the storytelling process, enhancing the visual language of the films she worked on. However, Miljana’s journey had yet another chapter waiting to unfold. After years of immersing herself in the world of film, she decided to merge her two loves—writing and makeup—into a singular creative endeavor.
With a burning desire to share her knowledge and experiences, she became a content creator of a program dedicated to aspiring cinema makeup artists. “Behind the Makeup: A Guide to Navigating the Film Production Process”.
Through this program, she aimed to impart her expertise to future generations of makeup artists, offering them a roadmap to navigate the complex world of film production. Miljana’s unique perspective, influenced by her background in writing and her extensive experience in the world of cinema, makes her program a valuable resource for aspiring makeup artists.
Education: course for Beauty, Fashion and TV makeup at DJURO SALAJ Serbia, course for SFX makeup at WAKEUP AND MAKEUP SCHOOL Serbia. She has a BA in screenwriting and playwriting from Academy of Arts BK Serbia.
